"Flein & Wine" or ... "Wine & Flein" ... a Challenge*

7,200 residents ... and ... isn't there already a wine calendar in Flein? Correct, there is. In the wine and beverage store Armbruster, in the citizen's office in Flein's town hall and in Gerda's store. And it is great. Hardly any professional can shoot as many excellent photos on site as all the photo experts who live there together. The professional is simply too often not at the right place at the right time. Here you can see the many, single, great pictures and the whole story around it: the Flein photo calendar of the community association Flein. With a click here you are there "on the spot". A little further down the page – under the pictures of the award ceremony – are the fantastic photos. A compliment to all the makers ... from one who has also been taking pictures for around 50 years. And also after a specific review – almost on every picture wine plays a role – you can say: It is ... also ... a wine calendar. Even if wine does not play a role in the title of the calendar. Have fun looking at it or with him a whole year at home.

There Is Another Calendar Related to Flein ... The Wine Calendar 2024

2

The internet does not fulfill every wish, but it helps immensely. On the internet we found the hint regarding the Wine Queen from Flein. More precisely, to the Baden-Württemberg Wine Queen. But that's all. However, there were two cordial, older fellow citizens and with the question – in the center of the village – whether there is (... still) a wine estate Seitz in Flein, they sent us directly to the Wine House Armbruster, competence in wine, beverages "... and much more" in Flein. And there we learned: Hildegard Seitz belonged to the family of the Armbrusters. The certificate from that time is unmissable in the store. We asked for the picture of "Her Majesty" above, and we were allowed – directly from the photo album of the years 1951/1952 – to photograph the portrait of "Her Eminence". Thank you, family Armbruster and family Jett.

Half a century ago, image films about companies, cities and other topics were often well over an hour long. Today, time is more fast-moving and short "electronic business cards" entertain much more compactly. This is what also "remained" after round 50 years from a "presentation about Flein" – over "two generations of Peter Bachs" – from the first slide show, a sound picture show, about the wine village.

* What Kind of Challenge? DIN A4, Din A3, DIN A2?

You might first check here what's these measurements in centimeters and inches.

For a few years, "Bach 4 You", the Publishing House of Renate Bach has been a specialized, tiny music calendar publisher. In the fall of 2019, that should change. Because in the meantime, the tiny company is also a wine calendar publisher. A young cooperation with an internet portal, which offers an exciting wine magazine from Heilbronn, was the "initial spark" for the worldwide offer to wine connoisseurs, to winegrowers, to winegrowers' cooperatives and also to the demanding beverage retail trade. And also to restaurant and wine bar operators. A first wine calendar was created, shortly after that the offer for personalization came into being and finally my husband – he exaggerates everything – invented one wine calendar after the other. With premium personalization, the entire wine calendar offering includes twelve print products, two individual service offerings, and we also ship these Christmas gifts, thank-you gifts, and customer gifts internationally.

The magazine "Württemberger Weine" is an exciting read for all wine connoisseurs. At least for those, that speak German.

Back to the "challenge": Is "wine" more important than the name "Flein" in the title? Or is Flein as a municipality more important after all and the wine thus of secondary importance. Maybe it makes a difference then, if you are working on the design of an international calendar offer for the huge consumer group of wine connoisseurs in the world – which is what we are doing – and that's why the title is now called "Wine & Flein" and not the other way around. Further down there's – it's not a mistake – the English version of the calendar, which – only freshly printed and that individually, piece by piece – will also be offered in Canada, New Zealand and above all in the USA from this season on. Whether it will find a lot of interested buyers? Not at all ... and this brings us to the story of the second Flein photo calendar. In which size we wanted to offer this, our calendar was the challenge ... however ... not at all.

Shortly after we created the German version of the "Wein & Flein" calendar, the English counterpart was created.

No sales success hoped the Publisher with this second Flein wine wall calendar. But if Publisher Renate Bach and author and husband Peter Bach Jr. are enthusiastic Fleiners, never Fleinama, and in addition also a huge fund of beautiful photo motifs is already prepared for publication, then it is obvious to create another, that is second wine calendar "from pure desire and real fun".

Wine as a theme is the basis, photos on the subject of Flein are present ... there came the thought, which twelve themes should be distributed over the twelve months in the wine wall calendar. Already the father of Peter Bach Jr. – Peter Bach Sr. – created half a century ago a slide show about Flein of about one hour and so his son – my husband – was familiar with the topics "Flein wine for Queen Elizabeth II" and "The wine queen from Flein". Both events were now "recycled" this year and because the research for photos of both queens were crowned with success, the Flein motifs were distributed over the remaining ten months.

Yes, that's how you can publish photos. At this point, I would like to thank the Armbrusters and Jetts again for the opportunity to photograph and publish the photo of Hildegard Seitz. By the way, it is not in the public domain with this permission. It is not even allowed to publish it on Wikipedia. That's the way it is ... today. We are doubly pleased.

Thanks Leads to the Offer of the Second Photo Calendar About the Wine Village of Flein

Except for the wine wall calendar Wine ... Impressions with the order number 1, all wine wall calendars of the Publishing House Bach 4 You are so-called "print-on-demand print products". Freshly printed – means in an edition of one piece – all three sizes are always produced by a powerful, high-quality, fast printing house only if an enthusiast wants a calendar. With the calendrical of the then valid year.

However, we wanted to give away two ... as a thank you, that is to say to the Armbruster family and to the Jett family, who contributed with their kindness the essential thing, that is to say that one monthly page of the wine calendar becomes particularly exciting: that is the one with the picture and the winner's certificate to the Württemberg Wine Queen from Flein from 1951.

And if you have two calendars printed, it costs almost as much as five. And five cost almost as much as ten and that ultimately led to the offer in Flein to have this calendar printed once in the size DIN A3 (... check again here, what's that in your currency) in a tiny edition and then offer it for the cool price of € 18.90 incl. VAT, plus S&H (... to Flein and Sontheim we deliver it for you free of charge, what fun ...). So there is a tiny surplus of it, which we did not give away in 2019 / 2020, but offered it for sale. From 2020 /2021, it will then cost as much as all hot off the press calendars and even that is a cool price for 50 million wine connoisseurs around the world, but not for 7,200 Fleiners. With a smile, of course.

Almost anyone can photograph it ... without question and especially all, whose photos are published today in the first Flein wine calendar. But who brings rags, water in soda bottles and a household ladder to remove the cobwebs beforehand? And how does the Flein professional in photography (... my husband) come up with it? He had this challenge already once in the distant Weimar, Thuringia, Germany, when he photographed his relative (... Johann Sebastian Bach) as a monument: He was even better to reach (... see picture below).

Cobweb-free without a household ladder: You can only achieve that with Bach in Weimar.

Why You Need to Read the Local Daily Paper

So that you know what's going on ... in the neighborhood, at home ... or in the "Ländle". And can join in the conversation ... and still be able to get information 70 years after an event. Many thanks to the HEILBRONNER STIMME for making this content available to us. The report on your entertainment is reproduced here as a facsimile (... yes, that's right, I copied it).

Today you really have to "photograph" quite a bit around the nasty smearing and also come up with how to make the best out of it. The rest of the graffiti is removed electronically.

The left photo can be done comfortably, the right one is best shot lying on your stomach ... and we can not guarantee that the grapes on the left are really Flein grapes.

Our Thanks to the HEILBRONNER STIMME

A charming afternoon as the conclusion of the "Unterländer Woche" (... "Underland Week") – 14 female applicants climbed into the "wine exam".

Hildegard Seitz from Flein elected Württemberg Wine Queen 1951

Even if it is not Heilbronn, it is the Unterland that provides the Württemberg wine queen in 1951; Hildegard S e i t z from F l e i n is the lucky one who was chosen in a difficult election among 14 female applicants. Thus, a dark-haired and dark-eyed woman from the Unterland has replaced the blonde and blue-eyed wine queen 1950 Marthel G o h l  from Stuttgart-Degerloch. The following were elected princesses Hildegard  S c h n e i d e r  from  H e i l b r o n n  and Else  S c h ü t z  from  B r a c k e n h e i m . One of the questions asked of No. 9, who went on to become Wine Queen, was, "Who is the wine grower's worst enemy?" The answer came abruptly, humorously and out of attachment, to the concerns of the industry: "The phylloxera and the IRS!" Nevertheless, this answer was probably not the decisive factor in the choice; evenness, freshness and pretty appearance have contributed as well.

The winepress hall was packed with at least 1,000 people when the winegrowers' choral society Urbanus under Robert Edler opened the celebration with his motto and wine songs. Mayor D r. N ä g e l e gave a special welcome to Minister of the Interior U l r i c h , who had come with his Ministerialrat G ö h r i n g . During the days of the last two weeks, which were – it is fair to say – filled with wine, Wednesday stood out with the rally of the rural youth; here a youth was heard who, despite the rural exodus, is aware of its value and stands by it. The fact that they also find time for the pleasures of life, despite all the effort and work, is also a testimony to the unbroken strength of the winegrowers. The chairman of the Württemberg-Baden Winegrowers' Association, Hermann  S c h n e i d e r  , MDL, spoke first humorously and then with barely concealed seriousness about the fact that there must also be an aristocracy in democracy, an aristocracy that does not feed on titles but on innate nobility.  Great empires had perished because their founders had not found the right spouse. The Heilbronn winegrowers' estate has maintained its vitality because its men have always sought and found righteous and industrious, clean and nice spouses.

The aisle could hardly be cleared when the candidates entered: in front the Käthchen von Heilbronn with two friends, then with crown and flowers the Württemberg Wine Queen 1950, Marthel Gohl from Degerloch, accompanied by her princesses, finally the 14 candidates, in the traditional costume of their hometown, armed with the wine bucket in which the number lay: Renner, Hannelore, Willsbach; Schütz Else, Brackenheim; Albrecht, Lore, Heilbronn; Weingand, Elisabeth, Heilbronn; Krohmer, Hanna, Beuren; Kießling, Gertrud, Heilbronn; Wurm, Elisabeth, Flein; Schönberger, Christel, Heilbronn; Seitz, Hildegard, Flein; Rechkemmer, Margarete, Heilbronn; Kirschner, Else, Pfaffenhofen; Heinrich, Gretel, Heilbronn; Feigle, Berta, Horrheim; Schneider, Hildegard, Heilbronn.

As you can see, it was not an easy competition! The 14 spotlessly clean and impartial girls took their seats in a semi-circle, without any fuss, but with natural decorum, and the wine examination began. What white wine varieties are there? – Which place in Württemberg has the largest wine-growing area? (Heilbronn, of course!) – What are the cooperatives for? – Are the vines sown in spring or in autumn? (Vines are not sown at all, only in Weinsberg) – What should a wine glass be made of? (Made of fine crystal and quite large) – What should be the temperature of the wine? – What does the winegrower need so that he can create? (A good snack and not too little wine) – What should a wine bottle look like? (Like a nice Wengertsmädel) What are the main wine-growing regions of Germany? – And when these questions were happily over, the Heilbronn Agricultural Housewives Association came back with another question for each girl: How do you set a table when guests come? – What do you serve with the wine? – How does one arrange an autumn finale in the family? What are the prospects for a winegrower's girl if she doesn't marry? (Maybe she'll become an innkeeper, but the best thing is for her to get married!).

After this crossfire, the election committee consisting of gentlemen and ladies from the winegrowers' association, the city administration and the exhibition management, chaired by district court president Zais, withdrew. Urbanus and the peasant band could only partially bridge the general tension. Then the announcer announced the decision. Amid tumultuous clapping, the old wine queen led the new one to the throne (... she stumbled in the process, that must bring good luck) and placed the crown on her while the princesses decorated each other. "I drink the first sip to the new wine queen," said Marthel Gohl, "may she be a faithful and wise regent to you!" And the new queen also drank the first sip from the silver goblet.

The winegrowers' association presented all six queens and princesses with magnificent bouquets of wine and flowers, Mayor Dr. Nägele presented them with a Käthchen spoon and all the candidates with a booklet about Heilbronn, a man from the Rheingau served an honorary drink of 48 Hattenheimer, the Amos company presented a gift, and the book printer Röck from Weinsberg increased the general merriment when he handed over a photo album, a cassette of writing paper "... for getting rid of all marriage proposals" and the book "No husband falls from the sky"; In addition, he promised to print the princesses' engagement cards for free during their term of office. In the long procession through the winepress hall, the queen, the ex-queen, the princesses, the Käthchen and the girls were admired once again. The festivities and with them the Unterländer Woche (... Unterland Week) came to an end in true merriment ...    .erz
